![]() But if we compared mods of Minetest with the base Minecraft, I doubt that is the case. Well, Minetest doesn't have mobs per say, so yeah Minecraft ones are better. It's not perfect but it has enough of what you want out of a block game. ![]() I have really tried to keep playing my Minecraft world but I always default back into Minetest. There are no goals or achievements, so you kinda do your thing. Although the option is still there to add these things if I want to. Minetest recaptures some of the zen that very early Minecraft had, before the Ender dragon and other features that changed Minecraft to be more like an RPG over the years. It's much more of a sandbox than Minecraft You really don't get this in Minecraft, where you can edit the code, reload the game and see the change. If I want to add the ability to write on a piece of paper, it's a copy paste job. If I don't like how powerful an item is, I can edit easily. I made my own food and farming mod and made all the graphics and stuff, and the process was pretty fun. The only limit is that you won't be able to install mods then and there, but you won't be cut off from the game because of no Internet.Įven forgoing the mods available to you, once you get the basics of lua programming you can easily edit the game as you see fit. ![]() Minetest doesn't care what your Internet access is. The only way to play Minecraft offline is to use a non-official launcher, and even then you still need to have logged in at least once. At some point Mojang made it so that if you aren't connected to the Internet, you default to playing a Minecraft demo. This is important for me, because my work has me go to places that have no Internet access. I don't need to be connected to the Internet to play. I often watch a YouTube video on my phone while waiting for Minecraft to load.įramerates start out awful and get better as time goes on, but still nowhere near the performance of Minetest on my laptop. The launcher checks for updates every time, asks me to log in, takes time to load the version I want to play and even more time to get the application to open up, and that's before clicking on my World to start playing. Minecraft's official launcher often takes over 5 minutes for me to go from clicking the launcher to getting into a game. Also, I can start the game and load a world in less than 7 seconds, even with mods. Integrated graphics card, yet I can still play this with a perfect framerate. My laptop is over 8 years old and degrading.
